POEMS AS PROMPTS

POEMS AS PROMPTS

Join Poetica's Miriam Hechtman for a poetry workshop that uses poems as prompts.

There is something about sitting and writing in community. It's a different kind of writing experience - the discipline of time, the engagement with participants, the sounds of writing, and the opportunity to share words with others. Miriam will bring a selection of poems to this session. She will read a poem aloud and then participants choose a 'golden line' or theme or form from the poem to prompt them to write their own poem. Then there is quiet writing time. Then a chance to share your poem. Then on to the next poem. And repeat.

Join us for a cup of tea (or very good coffee from across the road) and let's write.

Miriam Hechtman is a writer, producer and poet. She is the founder and creative director of Poetica, a live poetry, music and arts initiative, and the editor of The Alphabet of Women (Ginninderra Press 2022). Throughout her working life, Miriam has partnered with artists and creatives to produce significant projects on screen, on the page and in real life. She lives in Sydney with her husband, two daughters, and Poppy the dog.

Systemic Constellations

Systemic Constellations: Exploring the Hidden Dynamics of Our Lives
In-Person Workshop | Sydney

Systemic constellations are a powerful way to explore the invisible dynamics shaping our inner and outer worlds. Through embodied group process, we can gain insight into patterns that live in our relationships, work, family systems, and wider social fields.

In this in-person session, we’ll work with embodied mapping practices to:

  • Gently explore different themes and areas of life

  • Bring awareness to what might be getting in the way of flow or change

  • Use group constellations to illuminate the dynamics at play in a few participants’ systems

  • Connect, listen, and learn through the wisdom of the collective field

Systemic constellations offer a unique and deeply felt way to sense into complexity—beyond analysis or logic. They invite us to hold space for what is, and to move toward greater clarity, wholeness, and possibility.

No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Date: Sun August 3rd, 2025 10:00am - 3:30pm
Location: 163 Clovelly Rd, Randwick NSW 2031, Australia.
Cost: $110 per person / Unwaged $90 per person / Bring a friend - $180 for 2 pp, Early bird $95 till 14 July
